About New Moon

We are a dedicated dairy- and egg-free facility. While we make some items free of common allergens, many of those are processed in the same onsite commercial kitchen, such as gluten, nuts, corn, and soy.

If you have concerns regarding these or other allergens, please contact us directly with all inquiries at info@newmoonvegan.net, or come see us at 119 S. Batavia Ave. in Historic downtown Batavia, IL!

Meet Jo!

Food, to me, is a communal experience that is so connected with the heart. As a third-generation Italian-American, I hold onto my treasured family recipes, passed on through generations. I now make vegan versions of these classics, in the hopes of recreating the foods from my childhood, cruelty-free. I also love a good challenge, always experimenting and adding new classics to my repertoire.

As a lifelong New Yorker who relocated to Northern Illinois, food is how I stay in touch with my roots. From focaccia to vegan cheeses to Italian Christmas cookies, my goal is to make yummy baked goods that aren’t just “good for being vegan”- but to make treats so absolutely delicious that you’ll never know the difference! I also love to recreate the staples you’ll find at a New York bakery, such as artisan loaves of bread, hand-rolled bagels, and black & white cookies.

Using only wholesome ingredients (seasonal and locally-sourced whenever possible), I have yet to find a recipe I can’t veganize. I look forward to sharing my process, but more importantly, I want to co-create a community with you, where sharing food is one important step toward a more compassionate world.
